Thin-set
The bonding agent used in most mosaic installation. This is the "glue" that binds your tiles to the surface.
Sanding Sponge
If your surface is very smooth, the thin-set might not be able to strongly bind to the surface. In this case we recommend using an 80-grit sanding sponge to roughen up the surface and increase the binding strength.
V-Notch Trowel
Used to apply the thin-set. The rib pattern on this trowel helps ensure uniform thickness of the bounding agent.
Grout Float
As it's name suggests, this tool is used for grouting. It has a non-stick rubber pad which prevents absorption of grout and other materials.
Finish Hammer
A lightweight hammer that is lightweight and has a smooth face that is designed to minimize damaging of the work surface. You can use this along with a wooden beating block to flatten the installed tiles.
Grout
Aesthetically, it's used to fill the gaps in between the tiles. When applied, it enhances the durability of the tiled surface by bonding the tiles together and preventing the edges from cracking or shipping. We strongly recommend the used of "non-sanded" grout to prevent scratching the tiles.
Sponge
Used with water to remove excess grout.
Wet Tile Saw
Used to cut tiles into smaller size to go around obstacles or at the edges. This tool can be very dangerous; if you are not confident in using one, please hire a professional. Otherwise be sure to read and follow all instructions.
Bullnose
This material serves to provide a smooth, rounded edge to tiled surface, giving it a nice finished look and also protecting the tiles on the edge. A great choice to finish off your installation if you can find a matching bullnose.
